A recent piece in the Economist talked about how Data Centers around the world consume 1% of the world's power resources. Wow, that is amazing! It would be tough to believe that they occupy less than one millionth of the available square footage on earth, or some equally outrageous ratio of power to space. This is significant because in an ongoing piece of work we are doing globally, it is showing which brands are most associated with green potential offerings. The obvious ones Dell and HP are near the top of the curve. Brands like EMC, though major players in the Data Centers, are not seeing huge lifts in association even in the largest accounts. Look at the tables below. Brands though like Google - a huge power consumer - are seen as a lot more likely to be able to offer green solutions. There are three simple lessons here:
